Our Story

EngraveMill began as a creative spark in our home — a simple laser cutter acquired for a physicist's side project quickly evolved into something much more meaningful.

What started as a tool to cut Gafchromic film turned into a full-fledged creative business, fueled by Valerie’s incredible eye for design and a growing passion for making custom, one-of-a-kind pieces for families, businesses, and special events.

Our business name, EngraveMill, came to us as a nod to what we do — laser engraving — but we later realized it also captured something deeper: our kids’ names — GRAnt, AVEry, and MILes — all hidden right there. It was the perfect coincidence, and a sign we were onto something special.

Today, we run EngraveMill from our basement with a professional-grade Trotec 80W CO₂ laser, creating beautiful, customized products that include:

  • Custom business orders, bulk items, and branded merchandise

Valerie leads the design side with stunning attention to detail, while Jon handles the tech and production workflows — a blend of art and science that makes everything we create both beautiful and precise.
